Attendees will hear from Senator Robert Hilkemann, who represents the 4th District of the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature. Senator Hilkemann plans to speak on a bill he sponsored to allow sanitary and improvement districts (SID) to build off street parking facilities to vastly improve parking conditions for Commercial Development projects in western Omaha. He also plans on speaking about the upcoming legislative session as it relates to small businesses.
Senator Hilkemann was elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. A Nebraska native from Randolph, NE, he also serves as an alumni to Nebraska Wesleyan University.
From 1977 to 2013 he was a Physician (Podiatrist) and he opened and ran several clinics in the Omaha metro. Senator Hilkemann helped his profession achieve numerous accomplishments while serving as its legislative chairman, as president, and as the delegate to the National Podiatric Medical Association. During Senator Hilkemann’s first years in the Association, he chaired the legislative committee and worked with members of the Unicameral to improve the statutes regarding the practice of podiatry.
