Sad that December 11th 2020, marked the end of a nearly 20 year run for the Omaha Empowerment Breakfast.
Perhaps sometime in the future a new group of dedicated networkers will once again empower networking in Omaha through this casual non-membership based small business networking group.
The Omaha Empowerment Breakfast was started in 2001 by Barb Foster with the Small Business Administration office as a way to foster networking opportunities for small busine4sses in the greater Omaha area. Around 2015, Bar Foster retired and the SBA restructured and could no longer manage the breakfast.
Madeline Moyer, one of the initial attendees to the breakfast, picked up the baton and with the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and Faith Morrison, continued the breakfast tradition. It has been at the Regency Lodge, Salvation Army Krok Center, Courtyard Convention Center at Twin Creek in Bellevue and lastly at the Scott Conference Center on the UNO Campus.
At it peak more than 100 people would attend the breakfast, exchange business cards and grow their business with other attendees. it has helped many businesses find new opportunities. Monthly featured speakers would share insights in their business or tips to help the business of those in attendance. 3-Minute presenters had an opportunity to tell their business story. Some sold, other came to share how they could help solve problems.
We Thank Madeline Moyer and Faith Morrison for carrying the OEB banner for the last 5+ years.
I contributed using my digital marketing skills to continue to get the message out.
I, Madeline, and Faith, do hope a new team will step forward in the future to return to in person meetings and keep the breakfast empowering small businesses in the Omaha metro area.
Enjoy a look back over the years
